Susan S. Brewer

Susan Brewer of Morgantown, West Virginia, is an attorney with Steptoe & Johnson PLLC. She has been with the firm for 42 years and served as its CEO/managing partner from 2009 to 2020. She focuses her practice on litigation, with a particular concentration on professional liability. She has tried more than 100 jury and non-jury cases in state and federal courts and has been involved in appellate proceedings before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals. Brewer received her legal education at George Mason University School of Law and her undergraduate education at Duke University. She is also a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers having served as West Virginia state chair and as a member of the Board of Regents. She has been recognized in Chambers USA America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and The Best Lawyers in America. She also chairs the West Virginia Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission, having been appointed over the years by numerous governors.
