A new scholarship created as a tribute to NASA pioneer Katherine Johnson will benefit African American students studying math or science within West Virginia University’s Eberly College of Arts and Sciences.
As West Virginia University embarks on a new academic year amid the challenges of COVID-19, more than 60 students are beginning or resuming their coursework thanks to the generosity of Mountaineer Nation.

During his 43 years at West Virginia University’s John Chambers College of Business and Economics, Professor Emeritus Adolph Neidermeyer always bid farewell to his students with a purposeful reminder: “Remember what WVU has done for you, and hopefully, when you are in a financial position to contribute, you’ll think about us.”
